The journalist Rosa Maria Calaf is to be awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the URV in a ceremony held on Tuesday, 20 May at 12pm in the Auditorium at the URV’s Rectorate in Tarragona. [+]

During the 19th Series of Conferences on Oenology, the Jaume Ciurana Prize for Best Graduate of 2006-07 has been awarded to Antonio Serrano. The ceremony was held on 11 April and presided over by Joan Aguado, director of the Institut Català de la Vinya i el Vi (Catalan Institute of Viniculture) of the Catalan Government. The prize was sponsored by the wine consultancy Rius i Rius. [+]

The aim of the course is to provide professionals with knowledge regarding vineyards and wine, qualities and defects in wine, and the different oenological practices used. They must know and be able to distinguish all kinds of beverages, liqueurs and wines and acquire a knowledge of techniques regarding the serving, conservation, management and sale of wine in restaurants. A group of researchers from the Department of Analytical Chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry has developed a new class of potentiometric sensors based on nano-technology, which can be used in applications such as following the evolution of a patient’s blood components and measuring components within living cells.

The Consortium CD-MEDICS, a European project coordinated by the URV, was created during 6, 7 and 8 February at the Hotel AC, Tarragona. The project studies the early diagnosis and personalized treatment of celiac disease, and it is coordinated by Dr. Ciara O'Sullivan, ICREA researcher at the URV. [+]

The Antenna or Knowledge Centre of the URV in the capital of the Costa Daurada has been up and running since December 2007. It forms part of the Extended Campus which the university organizes around the province of Tarragona. [+]
