Introduction
The ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) provides a procedure for recognising studies taken in Europe. When students have completed their mobility programme, the studies they have taken abroad must be matched with the subjects for which they are enrolled at the sending university. This must be a valid recognition if the number of credits and the grades of the studies are to match. To make this possible, a system of European credits has been established that accords with the credits system of each university. At the same time, information about the subjects that can be taken at the receiving university given to those in charge of the exchange programmes and to the students themselves must be more transparent.
Universities must also create an ECTS organisation structure that introduces a new system of working, new documents and new procedures. The Rovira i Virgili university also provide ECTS information packs about the institutions and programmes of study that are available.
