Participating institutions

- Polytechnic University of Catalonia (coordinator)
- Rovira i Virgili University
- University of Girona

Compulsory student mobility: yes

Presentation

This Master's Degree provides scientific and technological training in the field of polymers and biopolymers, in both the professional and research modes. Students acquire the specialized skills they need to be able to work as professionals or in the innovation, production, transformation and use of polymeric and biopolymeric materials.

Admission requirements

The Master's Degree coruses are open to anybody with an official university qualification, even Spanish or foreign (this foreign degree must enable you to be admitted to postgraduate studies in the country where you obtained it).

In addition, universities in charge of the organization of a Master can establish those procedures and requirements considered necessary to be finally admitted to the Master. Therefore, as well as having a previous official degree, you should get informed about additional conditions and selection criteria which may have been addittionally established by each Master.

Contents

Course taught in: Catalan, Spanish and English

The programme consists of an initial obligatory schedule in which students study the conceptual and technical fundamentals of polymers and biopolymers. Subsequently, students can follow one of the two modes provided, and study a variety of obligatory and optional modules. These modes can be completely independent or share some common modules. Each mode has 105 obligatory ECTS credits and 15 optional ECTS credits.

This Master's Degree is of a hybrid nature so that it can be of use to two well-established student types:

- Professional profile: The aim of this mode is to respond to the demand for professional specialization in polymer technology which has been constant and significant among students and graduates of the scientific and technical qualifications, particularly those from Chemical Engineering and the Degree in Chemistry.

- Research profile: The aim is to give you the tools to develop research projects directed both to Doctoral Thesis as well as technical-scientific innovation of R+D+I departments from polymers and biopolymers industry.

Modes

- Professional
- Research

Official Master's degrees offer specific Modes which will be effectively initiated -or not- depending on the number of students finally admitted.
