Presentation

The Master's Degree in Applied Chromatographic Techniques is an interuniversity Master's Degree organized by the Department of Analytical Chemistry and Organic Chemistry of the Rovira i Virgili University, the Department of Chemistry of the University of Girona and the Institute of Pesticides and Waters of the Jaume I University I) in Castelló.

The main aim of the Master's Degree is to train specialists to develop and apply methods of analysis using chromatographic techniques to solve analytical problems in a variety of industrial sectors (agrifood, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, etc.), in pollution control, in biomedicine, etc.

Another of its aims is to find professional opportunities for graduates in chemistry, biochemistry, etc. in the industrial sector and to provide students with knowledge about the latest trends in chromatographic techniques and to initiate them in research in the techniques mentioned above.

Admission requirements

The Master's Degree courses are open to anybody with an official university qualification, even Spanish or foreign (this foreign degree must enable you to be admitted to postgraduate studies in the country where you obtained it).

In addition, universities in charge of the organization of a Master can establish those procedures and requirements considered necessary to be finally admitted to the Master. Therefore, as well as having a previous official degree, you should get informed about additional conditions and selection criteria which may have been addittionally established by each Master.

Contents

Course taught in: Catalan and Spanish

The Master's Degree consists of 60 ECTS credits taught throughout an academic year in two different options: professional and research. The first block of 30 credits is obligatory for both options and consists of five theoretical modules of 4 credits each, which include the specific subjects on chromatographic techniques, sample-treatment techniques and quality control in laboratories.

The theoretical modules are a mixture of face-to-face and on-line learning and each university is responsible for one of them, so students will have to travel to the corresponding university to attend the face-to-face part. Students will do the practical module in the university in which they matriculated.

The second block of 30 credits depends on the option chosen, and includes a Project in a ecompany for the professional option and a research assignment for the research option.

The Project in a company is carried out in one of the companies that collaborate in the Master's Degree and the research assignment must be done at one of the organizing universities or at other national or foreign universities through the Erasmus programme.

Modes

- Professional
- Research

Official Master's degrees offer specific Modes which will be effectively initiated -or not- depending on the number of students finally admitted.
