It is more and more common for none-URV people, particularly of foreign nationality, to ask to follow certain study programmes at the Rovira i Virgili
These people may not have all the requisites established by the existing legislation to be able to gain access to the university. This may be because they are students from foreign universities who wish to take subjects which are not part of an ordinary or regular academic programme established between the URV and another institution, or it may because they do not have the necessary academic qualifications.
Therefore, in order to answer the demand generated by these people, the following regulations are proposed.
1.1 Visiting students at the URV are those who are studying a set of degree, masters or doctorate subjects which are not part of the framework of an ordinary academic programme or regulated by an agreement between the URV and another institution. People who do not fulfil the established academic requirements to register at the university can also be admitted as visiting students.
1.2 Admission of the visiting student to the URV and the subsequent admission conditions are governed by these regulations.
1.3 Admission as a visiting student does not involve under any circumstances admitting the student to the corresponding official studies, and does not give any official validity to studies which are carried out at the URV.
1.4 Students of the URV Ciutadana Programme may not be visiting students.
2.1 People interested in being admitted as visiting students must submit an application form to the following people or bodies according to the level of the studies they wish to pursue: 1) for official degree programmes, the form must be submitted to the dean or director of the school/faculty offering the programme and subjects they wish to study, 2) for masters courses, the form must be submitted to the body responsible for admissions to the specific master’s course, for doctoral courses, to the body responsible for admissions to the specific doctoral course.
2.2 Visiting student application forms must be accompanied by a note explaining the reason why the person is interested in applying to study at the URV, by a certificate of the university studies or other studies that he or she is doing or has done, and by a certificate which demonstrates knowledge of the language, if necessary.
2.3 Foreign visiting students must prove that they meet the existing legal requirements to be able to stay in.
2.4 The period for submitting application forms is from 1 to 30 September or 1 to 15 January.
2.5 For degree programmes, it is the duty of the dean or the director of the school/faculty to accept or refuse visiting student applications, on the recommendation of the head of teaching. For masters programmes, this decision is taken by the body responsible for admissions to the specific master’s course, and for doctoral programmes it is taken by the body responsible for admissions to the specific doctoral course. Admission will depend on the availability of places on the courses applied for. Students will be attached to the centre or faculty which has authorized their admission.
2.6 Once the application has been accepted, enrolment must be formalized during the 30 days after the end of the official enrolment period of each quadrimester. Visiting students can enrol for of 30 credits per quadrimester.
3.1 The visiting student has the right to attend classes and obtain a certificate, issued by the URV, as a record, if appropriate, of their attendance of the courses they have enrolled for.
3.2 Subjects taken within the framework of these regulations have no official academic validity. Studies carried out in accordance with these regulations will not result in any official qualification being awarded by the URV.
4.1 Visiting students at the URV must enrol at the school/faculty to which they have applied to be admitted. The University Council must set the cost of credits in this mode of study.
4.2 When formalizing their enrolment, visiting students at the URV must show that they have health insurance and civil liability insurance for those academic activities that require them. If they do not have this, then they must take out the voluntary “cum laude” insurance policy offered by the URV.
4.3 Enrolment fees for credits will be 40% greater than the cost established by the Catalan Government in its decree setting the fees for academic university services.
